Replacement kits
We recommend replacing the drinking tube and check valve monthly with daily use. We offer the Replacement Drinking Tube / Check Valve for the Giraffe Bottle System in each size. We also offer the Giraffe Bottle replacement neck, which should be replaced approximately every 8 months, depending on use.
How it works
Setting Up
With the bottle lid unscrewed (so you can put your drink in), the flexible neck assembly screws into the lid spout. The adjustable bottle holder comes with instructions and a hex tool. Using the tool, adjust the clamp so that it fits onto your wheelchair, bed-frame, or any comparable fixture you would like the bottle holder to be attached.
Check Valve
One of the Giraffe Bottle's unique features is the inclusion of a check valve. With the check valve in place, your drink won't retreat back into the bottle after taking a sip. For those with limited lung function, keeping liquid primed and at-the-ready makes staying hydrated a breeze. If the check valve isn't necessary for your application then simply unscrew the neck, remove the check valve, and it's that easy!
Three Different "Neck" Types
Tower Standard Neck
The Tower standard neck is the original Giraffe Bottle neck - it's the one you're viewing right now. It has that black hard outer modular hose that will hold the straw in place however it is positioned, and it utilizes the removable check valve that keeps liquid in the straw after the first sip. The straw is a bit smaller than a normal straw, so it is best for individuals with mild to moderate reduced lung functioning.
Tower XL Neck
The Tower XL neck is just like what it sounds - the standard Tower, but bigger. The straw on this neck is as big as the Journey neck, and is designed for individuals with full lung and mouth functioning. Instead of a check valve, it has a bite valve, which also keeps the liquid in the straw and allows the user to control the flow. Keep in mind that since the bite valve is removable, it can present a choking issue for individuals without full mouth control.
Journey Neck
The Journey neck is designed as a less expensive alternative for individuals with limited upper body mobility. The Journey neck does not have the hard outer modular hose, so it is much more flexible. It has a small clothing clip to assist in positioning, and is best for individuals with partial paralysis, amputees, or people who are recovering from surgery and/or are in physical therapy recovering from an injury.

NOTICE:
Do not use Check Valve for:
- Carbonated drinks
- Juices with pulp
- Ice-blended beverages (Smoothies, ICEEs, Frappuccino, etc)
- Viscous drinks/foods - such as yogurt.
- Partially Gelatinated Non-Dairy Gum-Based Beverages
- Shakes
The check valve may become permanently damaged if used with carbonated drinks or the above drinks. Water and other non-viscous liquids work best with the Giraffe Bottle Hands Free Drinking System. Remove the check valve when enjoying other types of beverages. Keep in mind that the thicker the beverage, the harder it will be to create suction - especially on longer-necked Giraffe Bottles.
Get your drink on - and keep it on.
• Keep the neck as short as possible for best results.
• The components of the Giraffe Bottle are not microwave-safe. The Plastic Giraffe Bottle is not recommended for use with very hot beverages; the plastic bottle could become too hot to touch.
• Keep the bottle lower than the tip of the straw to prevent a siphon effect. Once liquid begins to flow down, gravity will cause it to keep flowing.
• The Giraffe Bottle should be cleaned before each use.
• The bottle, bottle lid, and lid gasket are dishwasher-safe. Hand-wash the drinking tube in warm soapy water using the included cleaning brush. Soak check valve in warm-soapy water and rinse.
• Certain components require replacement in regular intervals.

Round-Tube Mounted
The Giraffe Bottle Aluminum Bottle Holder with Round Tube Clamp is our standard bottle holder for the Giraffe Bottle Tower necks - all Tower kits are available either with or without this holder, and it is also available separately. It features an adjustable clamp that attaches to both horizontal and vertical tubing from 0.75" to 1.25" in diameter - which is most wheelchair and bed rails.
Rail Mounted
The Giraffe Bottle Aluminum Bottle Holder with Rail Mounting Bracket is designed to be attached directly to the accessory rail of power chairs. It works with both double-track rails like those on Permobil chairs, and single-track rails like those on Quantum chairs. Mounting bolts and nuts are included along with instructions. This bottle holder is available separate from the kits.
Desktop Base
The Giraffe Bottle Desktop Base is made of fabricated steel and weighs over 2 pounds. It's made to keep your Giraffe Bottle on a desk, table, counter, or any other flat surface. It features high-quality pads both on the bottom to keep the base in place, and on the top to keep the bottle in place, and is available separately from the kits.
Neoprene Carrier
The Giraffe Bottle Neoprene Bottle Carrier with Strap is designed to be able to carry the Giraffe Bottle on-the-go. It can be slung over chairs, beds, shoulders, and more. We don't recommend to put Giraffe Bottles with the Tower neck in the carrier, since the carrier is not stable enough to hold the Tower neck in place; however, it is perfect for the Journey Giraffe Bottles, which are available with or without this carrier.
